Jesus is Lord.

Paul urges his friends to live as citizens of God’s kingdom.

Having set his circumstance as a paradigm to be emulated by the Philippian church, Paul transitions his letter towards exhortation. He urges the church to stand firm, contend together and not fear opposition from the culture of their context.

Paul’s primary concern is always for the gospel. The life of the church represents the gospel. The unity of the church is a profound witness to the world around. Those who stand united can do so with boldness and confidence knowing that God is advancing the gospel in and through the church.
