On this page you can find job opportunities as well as bios of our current staff to learn a little more about our staff members that keep Awaken running.
Chris Clark
Lead Pastor
Chris (he/him) was called to serve as our Pastor on May 3, 2026. Originally from Northern Ontario, he has made his home in Alberta for over 20 years; Calgary is where his heart has firmly settled.
Chris first fell in love with this “little queer hippie Baptist church” (as one member describes it) because of its deep commitment to being 2SLGBTTQIA+ affirming, justice-centred, and engaged in the ongoing work of reconciliation. Not only this, but the warm, informal, and caring nature of the community.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology from Athabasca University, along with a Master of Divinity (MDiv) and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) from Vancouver School of Theology, Canada’s leading progressive seminary. He’s passionate about Queer and Feminist theologies, Celtic Spirituality, and Indigenous Christian Theologians.
Outside of ministry, Chris enjoys the symphony, walking on Nose Hill, getting lost in delightfully corny fantasy films and TV, playing the piano, Bengal Spice tea, and big belly laughs around a dining room table playing board games with friends.

Megan Biggs
Operations Manager
Megan (she/her) has been a part of the Awaken community ever since 2012, when she moved into the Bowness House of Commons (RIP). Megan started going to Awaken because she loved the community of Awaken, as well as the vision of an incarnational presence of redemption and reconciliation in the neighbourhood. Megan has an educational and experiential background in library science, records management, and administrative finesse. She lives with a few beloved houseplants.
